I am in the process of planning our next fishing trip. We would like to specifically target Marlin. We have fished out of Lopez Mateos and had a great time and had great luck with the tuna dorado grouper. However we are wondering if the Marlin fishing out of San Carlos is noticeably better for our next trip. We will be coming in early November.

Fishing for marlin out of San Carlos or PML are usually at the same hot spots. You will have a much longer boat ride getting to and from the offshore structures (i.e. the Ridge) from San Carlos. If you are coming from Loreto PML is probably the best ticket. If coming from Cabo, San Carlos will shave about 30 min off the commute but not the boat ride. The marlin and other pelagic species are not generally around those waters in March. You might have to adjust your expectations...

Woops got a couple of threads merged in my responses. Late October and November is a good time to target marlin and other pelagics out of San Carlos and PMl. There is another thread - Mateo Lopez Bonanza - and compadre yellowklr mentioned fishing in March. That is not a productive month for marlin. Targeting the YT would be a better bet. I will be doing the same out of Loreto and PML.
