Its been about 5 years since I signed up, never posted as most of my fishing is done on the kayak in la jolla. I've had great success with that method of therapy for workasitis
So last Saturday jumped on the Malahini 3/4 day boat, their first of the year. Full boat with 45ppl, mostly experienced ppl that knew what to do. Made bait at the receivers...and so on. Out to the Coronados for yoyo yellows and rockfish was the plan.
Why I'm posting this is two fold, the owner of the boat and skipper worked their asses off. We came back way late due to a late open yellow bite at north island. Second reason I'm posting is to share my stoke on having my ass handed to me by a 28lb yellow on the jig stick...since Feb is my birthday month I decided to treat myself to a calstar 90j and saltist black and gold bg35. I fished my yoyo set up all day, trolled between stops with cedar plug for 5 bonito hookups, landed 3. Last stop of the day I decide I'm going to take the birthday rig and cast long, let the jig work more water column on the retrieve. Hooked up and enjoyed the fight the yellow gave, now know why fishing a 9' is addicting. Was sore but stoked.
So, that's it, see you all in five more years

I think you need to be contributing to the forum more regularly, especially when the 50lb WSB are biting. Nice YT.

I'll be sure to contribute more frequently. When it comes to fishing I'm beyond OCD...it's more of an addiction.
Tight lines to all and looking forward to sharing fish reports.

Alan - any fish report is a good report, whether you catch a fish or not. Just don't post photos of your burrito or empty beer bottles and it's all good.
Photos of women in bikinis fishing the bow are encouraged. Skol!
