American Angler - Jan 2008 16 day. This was a Ken’s trip with both Sam Patella and Brian Kiyohara on board, backed up by Bill Cavanaugh and Ray Lopez, and the rest of the AA crew. A blissful trip...

first photo is an early November fish.
    180lbs caught on the flyer.
Second photo was mid April after the RP found em. Taped out at 123 lbs weighed 113 at the dock. Multiply x 1.13 it comes out to about 127. Any how 40lb flouro and a superhero sardine. Both fish caught in 2019.

still a big fish! And an experience you’ll never forget. Just gotta keep going on those milestones. 130-140 next 200... very cool man. I was lucky to get both of those fish though. One my # was called and then other one I wasn’t sure I was even going to get at all. Seeker 670h and a metaloid 12II narrow. Nearly got spooled. I just pulled back and that fish eventually broke.

What size gear and what jig is that?
What is the speed jigging your speakin of? Hell of a trip!!!! Nice freaking fish!!!!
Okuma PCH-C-801XH, Penn Fathom 40NLD2,80# braid, 40# fluoro on the 1st fish, 60# fluoro on the 2nd fish, 142 gram "Flat side" jig (Mine are a Shimano knock off) . Been doing this for @ 10 years -almost exclusively - for Oregon Albacore. Concept is the same, mimic a baitfish, create a quick predatory reaction out of the fish, if done right, the fish cannot help themselves. My 1st SD LR trip since learning this technique, caught these two fish in the evening of the last of my trip, bottom of the 9th with two out. I felt I did not listen to my intuition in trying this earlierCould have been different, who knows. Probably a total of 10 casts/drops to stick these two fish.
Here's a video of a skipper/friend whose boat I frequently go out on, explaining the technique well.

A brace of two Alijos Rocks Mossbacks. Caught on the American Angler the first year Sam and Brian had the boat.

The bite was in the morning from 09:30 to aporox.12:00. They only bit live squid. When squid was gone the bite shut off.

Average Yellow was approx. 40lbs with many fish over 50lbs, a few over 60lb, the fish in the pic were both over 70lbs and one guy got one over 80lb.
