Hi guys. Long time lurker, first time poster. Thanks for all the local knowledge I've been getting here. Made for a great day on the water. Just gotta get closer to fish than Nacho's sardines. Book learning ain't the same as OJT. lol

Took some buddies out of Davies launch ramp around 8 for prospecting cruise. First of, I hope, many monthly boating trips in 2019. New boat for me and just getting used to outboard and center console boating versus my old Sea Ray 185. Sure was nice seeing the self bailing cockpit at work. Installed a 9" GPS Map and sonar, wanted to test out my installation. Works good finding marks … now for the important part.

Saw Nacho and the puppies, picked up some sardines and then cruised outside a little (anchored too far off the rocks … scaredy cat newbie), played around getting to the Shoe area and then settled back in behind the oil islands (the crowded one, of course... newbie mistake #2). Also should have brought frozen squid as the sardines just weren't getting hit (Newbie number 3).

But grilled asada, links and steak will do...

Smooth seas and tight lines.

And goodnight Chesty Puller, wherever you are. Chillin and Grillin.JPG DSCN1059.JPG

Sorry, gotta figure this out. Low tech guy. lol

Just waned to add:
Water temp 57 and watch out for the floaters after all this rain. Lots of debris. Brought back a 6' chunk of branch for yard art and could have brought back a ton with a bigger boat. lol

Great first thread/contribution SemperFi75! You broke the ice, keep them coming.

Congratulations of the new sled Sir.

Added bonus . . . video of my avatar.

You realized it; always bring frozen squid, cheap investment.
