    Here's My Humble Opinion:

    the larger models are a PITA. the don't fit well in the pot. harder to cook "Just Right" and as stated earlier, they're okay for casserole, but that's about it...

    as for daytime hoopin', sometimes right at sundown they'll crawl, but for the most part, daytime is not worth it.

    Day time is a great time for YOU to hoop, also you probably will have better luck in the OC/LA area. :D

    the trick to cooking the really big ones is to tail them and split the tail and steam. cook the head seperate if you try to cook the entire thing at once the outside meat will overcook before the center is done. Only really applies to bugs over 6-7lbs tho

    go during the day and catch the crabs, they taste better than lobster anyways. yup.

    and the bigger ones are just too big...............

    It's definitely easier for you to just buy them at Costco for $20. Don't go hooping or diving it's way too much work.

    Buy the book "hoopin it up" by Jimmy Salazar. Study it for a year and try next year

    Season starts Oct. 1....Same with me on the shorts...according to my F&G book..2012,doesn't seem right , seems like it should be on a Fri. night...
