Well we’re heading up the line now. It’s been a great adventure. A little bumpy going uphill but not bad. Stay tuned for my next on the water reports as I am on the next 16 day trip on the independence. My wife will fly down and meet the boat and will spend 5 days in San Diego then depart on the next trip. I want to thank the entire crew of the independence. Without the crew many of the fish anglers landed would not be possible. And to the galley crew for keeping us fed and gaining a few extra pounds. Last Bubba are charter master for everything he did to make this trip fun. If you can’t have fun on theses trips why go. Thank you Bubba

Congrats on another great trip David . I’m going on the Excel Okuma trip this year. The guy in the excel office said that the Starlink will let you send e-mail and such, but won’t allow you to make phone calls. That’s why all the questions concerning it. Thanks again for aGREAT report

You should of booked your trip on the Intrepid. Theirs a boat phone in the galley and your allowed to use it for free. I've been on a trip before and the phone rang in the galley, It was a passengers wife asking if they could find him because she wants to tell him something (Non Emergency) . That's the last thing I would want, Is for my wife calling me on the trip. That's why I go on L.R Trips is to get away from that shit.

You can use WhatsApp to make “phone” calls; or even FaceTime if you’re both iPhone/iPad users.

Starlink is just satellite internet; so no cell signal of course, but everything you can do via your internet provider will work. Including Sling, Prime, Pandora, whatever. Pretty remarkable.

I’m informed that if I set my iPhone to WiFi calling, I can make calls. Might try that, probably not. Texting works fine. I’m streaming movies on my iPad, Prime, HBO Max, Netflix etc. Watching Glass Onion right now in the galley, Red Rooster III day one.

My phone is set to wi-fi preferred so whenever I connect to wi-fi, like at home, the gym or on a boat, I use it and am good to go!

Or they should of told her "That he told everyone on the boat and if they didn't see him or his wife for any long periods of time, Not to worry about them and please don't disturb them in their room!! There on their Honeymoon and they would be spending a lot of time in their stateroom! He even convinced the cooks to bring their meals to their rooms if they didn't show up for their meals, He even had them deliver Champagne and strawberries to their room. Then tell her, "He is living large".
