Hey guys, I just won a Shimano Torium 16 from a raffle and I am looking into getting a rod for fishing live bait. I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations.

    Thanks so much,
    Dane

I have the same reel my rod that Ive matched up with a Teramar 8ft mh , that set up has been my go to set up that I prefer and I have over 25 set ups from Okuma all the way up to Talicas calstars to phoenix rods I think you'll like it.

Calstar/Seeker 270H-8 would be good as would a Phenix psw808mh or psw 809h.

Phenix Abyss 808 or 809. 809 for bigger sardines and smaller macks 808 for anchovies and smaller sardines.

Check the ad section of bd some good deals on new/used rods. I like the proteus for under $200 phenix axis about 250 or UC rods at charkbait for 300+ theyre having a 15% off sale on all UC rods/blanks dont know how long that will last. Just picked up cp70hp blank love the action.

I have custom Calstar 700m with a TORIUM 16 and I've a caught a lot of tuna on that setup. I never had any problem with my setup so far everything works perfect.

Since we are talking live bait, I'm going to assume you are using spectra. What size top shot(s) are you hoping to cover?
