I hear out of Washinton, they use copper pipes filled with lead, for Lingcod, at 500ft
Ling will bite anything that moves. When I fish ling out of my kayak and I get tired jigging for them, I just drop down to the bottom, crank up to be about 10ft off from the structure and just drift around.

I've caught ling as shallow as 15ft and then there's days I can't find them until I hit 300ft or 400ft.
O I know.. but my back and arms just ach thinking about it! O I've fished it all on the hunt. Trust me! My biggest 38lbs ling came in at 65' on a full size Mack. But my days of deep dropping without an electric reel is over.

With dacron and a rail plate. Dacron the OG spectra

Normans shogun deep drop dacron reels. All got dumped to the knot just outside of Lupe in deep water. BFT sounded to the knot then 1000 pounders were netted off LA. That was the same fish imo

Rad. Dan was onto something RIP

Not a snag. 12lb trilene on a Shimano CT250 and G Loomis style bass rod for small grade Albies. With fat chovie on the slide. Anis scent. Very few slide fish this day or non troll fish.

Edited in the correct peanut albacore on the CT250 that day.

Saw it :) BS without pics back in the day. Cool you got some shirts 👍🏽

I was completing a fish storry and reminiscing reliving a moment from 20 years ago and giving my tribute to Dan the creator of the Anis scented, fat bait swimbaits RIP. Some folks are pouring swimbaits scented in Anis in So Cal. The dudes used them for Codfish and Albies in Nor Cal and they could had swam better. I think the scent was a huge factor and keeps the tackle pack smelling delicious

Unicorn peanut porn. Over half the fishers here have never seen one in person. Albies have been the staple of SD tunafishing many times before and Albacore eat the rubber (channel island chovie)
