last minute decision to run yesterday. Wanted to take my dad out later this week but saw some weather coming. I did not expect to have it come pouring on us yesterday. Didn't matter though as we were in a wide open bite for 3 hours. What started with 1-3 boats, became over 100. Some caught, some didn't, and some limited out. 209 area. First saw a leaping tuna, chummed hard, and it was game on.

I've always found dumping bait at first working well as it helps things get started easier. Not needed but just makes it easier. Key thing is even when everyone is hooked up, you should still keep chumming. If I ever get to my go pro videos, you will see me doing it with boils all around the boat. Bit 30lb Line. I only use segauar premier fluorocarbon. 3-5 feet leader, 50lb red power pro, size 2 mustad hook. I prefer mustards over owners on the smaller hooks. Could not get them to go on 40. Pic a hot bait and it was one every cast.

I hooked and handed over 20 fish and watched my dad and brother have a time of there lives. This was my little brothers first time tuna fishing and boy was he in for a treat.

First fish hit deck around 9:30 and we were done by 1230ish. 30 fish. Average about 15 pounds with about 5-6 in the 25-30 range. Home in time for some football and making dinner with friends.

Better to be lucky than good.

    Another trip for the books.

I tried to tell him that too!

After like 3 fish, he said "I'm going to take a sandwich break now" and i said "NO YOU ARE NOT. KEEP FISHING. I WILL THROW THAT SANDWHICH OVERBOARD!" LOL

A bit much, but as we know…..bites can end in just minutes and we have to make the best of it. ahahhah

Congrats on another outstanding trip Billy!

We fished Saturday with similar results on about the same grade of fish. Absolutely WFO. They were eating sardines fished on our trolling rigs with straight 60 pound mono. At one point we were just dropping baits off the transom and fishing the reels in gear, no need to cast. Probably one of the better bites I have been in on my boat.

So crazy the yellowfin bite is peaking in late October.

Well, they say luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity--to me, it sounds like you guys did in fact have both: prep/skill and opportunity

WTG Billy Getting my Dad on the boat for a bite like that is on my bucket list.

As you get older with kids you realize how much effort it takes and you want to see them your parents enjoy things like so badly, especially if they live 3,000 miles away.

    Congrats man!
