I've seen "limited load" boats at about $100 and some around $400. Looking for a limited load boat under $200 for a full day, south of Santa Barbara. Sea bass would be my first choice, really. Would love tuna, of course, or a really great boat for rocks and ling. What are your re recommendations? Thanks all!
Nuttin honey? What are your preference for these outfits? Various constructs but reasonably limited. Just looking for quality, eating fish....in order of my taste buds.....WSB, Tuna, Rockfish (very close second) http://www.longbeachsportfishing.com/boats/ahraahn.php https://danawharf.com/sportfishing-charters/ https://www.daveyslocker.com/deep-sea-fishing/
A few boats in Oxnard that don't pack them on like down south. A smattering of seabass now and then but fairly dry. Rockfish are a no brainer there. In your price range too. Mirage over night or Aloha spirit full day and a few others. If nothing else pretty mellow fishing
You need to stay flexible, and available, and alert if you want a light load while chasing pelagic fish. Rockfish? Just go in the middle of the week. But tuna? Watch/call the San Diego area landings after the end of September. A lot of fine boats run 1.5-day trips under $400, and during October and November they will often have very light loads in the middle of the week. The CONDOR runs with less than a dozen, most boats run with less than half of the spots filled. That is even better than a "limited load" count. I like it that the CONDOR will say, "Definitely Go" and means it. Some other boats do it too. And in my experience, those trips are often the most fun. All of the skippers and crews try extra hard when the competition for the available fishermen is tight.
And the Triton and the Pescador also, they have some Open Party Trips , and some times they will need a Few to fill A Charter, that how I'm Fishing on the Pescador on Wednesday , limited to 16, for A Full Day trip.
tuna trips under 200 are pretty much limited to 530am to 530pm trips that they are calling full day...even the cheapest overnight 1 day is 220
Heck, that works great. Buddy has all his PTO planned so we'll need a weekend at that price. Any recommendations? Gailforce his booked and Triton is only hitting local shores
Check out the Amigo in Ventura. Limited to 20 on overnight trips. Right now it is rockfish, lingcod etc... but when sea bass are around they will give it a go.
I've never had any issues with limited load trips. I only do limited load specifically for that reason.
For those who don’t get it.... Here’s an example Straight from H&M’s website. The producer calls everyone of their trips a limited load trip that takes 30 people. If you look at the boat info, it only sleeps 30. So how can a full bunk room be a limited load? Again, it’s a scheme for more money. They used to take less guys and some boats probably do knock down their list by a guy or two. But believe me you’re paying for it and it’s more beneficial to them than you.
Well maybe the Producer is running a scheme but that doesn't mean all limited load trips are schemes The Gail Force and the Triton run limited load trips, 25 anglers but their licensed to carry more. http://gailforcesportfishing.com/# https://triton.fishingreservations.net/sales/ https://gailforce.fishingreservations.net/sales/
The Malihini can carry 51 but their limited load trips are for 25 https://malihinisportfishing.com/ https://malihinisportfishing.com/book-now-copy/
Browse the various landings trip schedules. You will see a bunch of 30+ pax trips listed as "limited load". Hell the Liberty list 50 as a "limited load". Not saying there are not any that are actually limited loads but that term is tossed around like a relative wanting to borrow money.
