Went out with a very light load of only 16 people. Crazy right? You have shots at quality yellowtail and lots of them.
Anyways, got out first stop we anchored.
Threw some bait and here come the logs. And lots of em.
Put a couple on the deck and then got bit off by one. That’s it! Time to throw the surface plug.
Two cast in I get absolutely ripped by a slug and made quick work of it with my 90j. We picked up around five good ones on that stop. Then it was all drift fishing as schools were everywhere. These schools of yellows are up and we’re active yesterday. They had no problem slurping down the surface iron and also bait.
Also towards the end we got into a really nice calico bit so fun!
Last spot of the day taro wanted to fish more calicos so we anchored up and not a single calico was caught. As I’m fly lining a bait I see a free swimming yellowtail. As soon as I saw it my line ripped off my reel. He ate it! And right then we had a school. About five people had the yellow kind on the other end of their rod.
    Talk about a buzzard beater.
After that it was time to head in.
It was a very lively day at the Los Coronados.
Id say summer is here and man it’s shaping to be a good one.
Most fish were 8-12 pound with the slugs going 20-25
    Go get em.

Great report Michael! Those are some good ones! It's gonna be a parking lot out there this weekend! Looks like an OCT jig? Love that boat and the light load makes it an epic trip!
