    Haha.......tanglers!

Cattle boats don’t just do it to PB’ers either. They do it to each other too.

I fish mostly solo and remote. Its nice and pleasant. The only vessel I represent or that I am the spokesman for is my own.

Can everyone imagine if there were NO party boats and everyone had a private boat. That would be such a mess it wouldn't even be fishable out of so cal.

Who found most of the spots anyways? Who finds the bulk of the seasons first fish? I really dont know

    :D

I like Parkers so I wasn't trying to offend anyone if I did. I want a Davis boat.

Love this guy...you need a TV show.
One minute cussing them out the next minute helping guys get on the bite. Those sporties were awfully close, unfortunately it goes both ways.

We did have a great trip luckily! One thing I really liked was Anibel got on the PA calmly and respectfully. When a few of our fellow passengers started yelling at those boaters. he quickly told them in a nice way to shut up and fish. That it was his job as the capt to yell at them. Negativity creates more negativity. leave that up to him.

I was on that trip too. Those skiffs got really close. It wasn’t just the Parker. There were at least 2-3 other skiffs. The funny thing is I never saw any of them hooked up once but they just kept creeping in on upswell side and the stern. One boat got so close you could throw a rock at it. It was a joke. Thank god I got my fish before those clowns showed up.

The cool thing is that Taro didn’t even get mad, or yell or do anything. One of the guys on our boat was cursing at one of the skiffs and Taro asked him to chill out and told him that wasn’t cool. Taro is a class act.

I read a report that someone rented a boat from Carefree Boat Club and drifted near the Liberty. This could be the same guy.

    Thank you Eric
If I ran this close to the Grande stern, I would here it on the PA

The party boats fishing the front side of Catalina in the summer give zero fucks. That said, my days of yelling at kooks on a Saturday in August are over. I know what to expect.

Lets give a special shout out to the gents who troll through, right between, multiple boats in a drift.

Glad you got yours in that’s day. We would’ve limited out if we didn’t have so many PB’s on us like fly’s on shit.

It’s was a sold out boat and hard to get to know everyone on a short day trip.

I fish at least once a week. My skiff is almost done being rebuilt, pm me if you like to fish some time. For once, that guy was not on the boat. Everybody worked together. But those girls, landed both of those pigs! Wow!

I may suggest that phillyblunts taste like shit. A proper way is get a pack of backwoods for a perfect spliff.

    Back to OP.

If your on top of a chumline where fish are all show. Your line has a chance. Even better chance if your line was not cut off by that Parker. Yes he was too close, the other skiff much closer. Game over.

Now, when my skiff is ready. When I slide in on a sport boat. DON’T get in on his chum line or on top of the “all show” BFT that are blowing up, because you can’t catch them per phillypunk.

Slide along side of the sport boat and set your lines out. Everybody wins.

This is the right attitude, unfortunately it's directed at the wrong target. If a cattle boat captain has no problems running through the bite of a small boat, then the small boat owners are well within their right to ruin things for that particular cattle boat captain.

Unfortunately, people lump all the cattle boat captains together - good and bad. And when you use your private boat to ruin things for a random cattle boat because a different cattle boat ruined your day before, you may be ruining things for a captain who completely respects private boaters. Likewise when a cattle boat runs through the chumline of private boats because some other private boat once ran through his chumline, he may be ruining the day of a private boater who completely respects the space around cattle boats.

Unfortunately, the taboo against naming names and posting pics just facilitates this. Since we don't identify the private boat at fault, cattle boats start generalizing a particular private boat's behavior to all private boats, and retaliating against all private boaters. And since we don't name a the cattle boat at fault, private boaters start retaliating against all cattle boats because of the poor behaviorof a few. This results in a race to the bottom where nobody respects anyone.

Keeping respect for each other on the water means narrowing down the target of your retribution specifically and only to those who wronged you. Not to others just because they happen to ride the same kind of boat. (I usually call them party boats, but I left it as "cattle boats" as elsewhere in this thread so there'd be no confusion about what I meant.)

I don't have a ton of run ins with SD boats because I don't fish down there often.
