Bout 45 miles SW 1st part pick bite on sonar schools 15-20lb test 2 to 1/0 hooks i farmed both of mine (pulled size 4 and 2hooks). Then huge school breezers birds foamers pick at first then capt terry hand feeding them after 3rd drift they stayed wide open on starboard stern bit on 25 then 40 them 60 and even 100lb test all live dines. No jig fish i dont think, neither poppers either, just bait. I brought 15 20 30 and 40 matching fluoro setups id recommend two heavy setups one flylined amd one FF (FF if the big boys ever show up again we didnt see any this trip) ur light bass rods for picky schools too. Nothing deep 60ft and up were the bft. Size were 1x15lb rest were 20/25lb beautiful weather awesome capt and crew. Have a blessed season!

Nice hits on the BFT. Hard working crew. I heard Taro's not even in the wheelhouse all that much lately? Definitely going to fish this boat again this season! Top 3/4 day boat race continues since Booger and his crew on the San Diego got into it too. Get some, guys...

Time to hop on the LIBERTY! After a trip last week on another 3/4 day boat, BUNKS are a MUST for those long rides to and from the SPOT! Especially at 45 miles! Good job gettin um guys!
Question: how many bunks are there on the LIB?? Thanks

Liberty has charters for overnight and 1.5 day with 36 capacity i would say 36 bunks avail not including crews bunks. (full load is 55 on 3/4 not everyone can get a bunk). If u want a bunk for the 3/4 day ull need to pay a tip of $5 when signing up this is an extra luxury to cover the ladies who come after the trip to clean. Taro is doing education stuff so Terry is on relief this week. Taro wouldve fished the same as Terry the big school of 20 25bers just came thru and hungry. Dont forget the light stuff fluoro and small hooks ull farm some but theyre bft so expect then to be finicky. C Terry called the Malahini in to take over our spot we saw 7 hookups before we left. Heard they only got 4 wished they used the heavier gear and probably some causuality with tangles light gear and small hooks? Though these are smaller grade fish, they are in the fighting spirit even with my 30lb outfit took some time esp after a tangle with 2 others. Oh and they like to move laterally as well as straight down watch the headshakes tangles and work together! Make sure u got new line and equip up to snuff. Unfortunately someone's "just serviced" torium AR bearing failed on a fish he still got that baby in but make sure u got backup.

The Liberty has always been one heck of a fish catching machine. So good to see that tradition continues with the present Capt and crew.

Water was nice wednesday 2 to 3ft swells 10 to 15 wind more blueish than last week Very little whitecaps saw 3 kelps no biters though YT were sonared. Sprinkles/mist in am cloudy and cold until afternoon. Bring a jacket and layers oh an extra shirt i was soaked from running back and forth to bait tank and just plain madness with multiple hookups. I think weather is up thursday and calms down on friday but check NOA reports.

Great report, Thanks! I will take my limit of fifteen pound Bluefin any day I can. But I always smile at a picture like yours of what are really "baby" this-years' Bluefin lining the deck and think about how many fishermen get all snotty about other trips where people take a limit of small this-years' yellowtail. In truth, sport fishing for roaming pelagic fish has absolutely zero impact on the population. Quotas and limit numbers for pelagics are only about politics and commercial fishing licenses.

Yeah, if you're dog tired and sitting there, listening to the drone of the engines, that $5 bill saved sounds pretty worthless in the pocket. If I wanted to listen to endless droning, I'd go back to college. :-)
