So started to tally up benefits I've enjoyed under current administration policies. A familiar hangdog expression of bewilderment came over me.

Honestly I felt like I was in the old Jack Benny joke. A robber accosts him saying, "Your money or your life!" Jack doesn't have a ready answer and the robber presses him: "Well?"

Jack says, "I'm thinking!"

Good fishin'!
BDC OK

Did you ever finish you list from the previous administration?

Psst, hey yak, you ever heard this before?

“Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country,”

What kind of “benefits” or free stuff did you get under the previous administration that you are not getting now, what exactly are you looking for

Good questions guys. I was mainly using Conchy's post as a jump-off point for response, then the very first thing I did was was use a poor choice of words ("benefits," instead of say, "positives"). I certainly don't have my hand out (unless the deckhand offers a hot bait from the dip net) and appreciate the reminder to ask myself what I've done for my country. Aside from voting and paying my taxes, maybe not too much I guess and that perhaps doesn't reflect too well on me. As Jiminy Cricket asked Pinocchio, "Perhaps?!"

I've heard tell that who the president is generally doesn't generally affect one personally and believe that for the most part. I do think that the administration is headed down some questionable policy paths or at least some I don't agree with. Some seem downright goofy. One example is pressuring China with increased tariffs, in part to help the farming businesses, then to almost nobody's surprise, China reduces purchases of agricultural products. Then, the government has to pay further subsidies (our taxes plus printing more money [potential future inflationary pressures]) to keep farmers afloat. Stuff like that makes me scratch my head.

Anyways, I don't know who's buying lunch for who now, alls I know is it ain't free. I'll try to refrain from posting ignorant comments in the future and stick to my usual cheap sarcasm and the odd fishing report.

Increased tariffs on Chinese imports is the best you can do? And because of that your ready to vote in socialism.

You need to drink more to post here.

Those are rational thoughts you are throwing around.

That's likely to get you a rubber dick pick from Danno's stash of rubber dicks.

What are you a Socialist? LOL

    Nice response yak 👍

No question there are some questionable policy paths and politicians within both parties. One just needs to decide for themselves, which path is the least destructive to the good ole USA 🇺🇸.

The agg market is complex on a world wide scale. I grew up in the Midwest and we farmed plenty of ground. Government subsidies are a way to keep the market stable by somewhat controlling the amount of product produced and on the market. Too much product on the market, prices plummet, small guys go out of business, big guys are able to ride it out. The subsidies are a good concept as they do keep the market stable, more guys in business which makes it easier to respond to an uptick in product demand. It also helps our government have some control over the worldwide market should some other country try to flood the market with product.

Stank didn’t really accept the bet, so no lunch won/lost.

Best for all to delete any threats...the FBI does not have a sense of humor or empathy these days. Same with local cops who love arrest stats....Free Speech and the Bill of Rights is becoming extinct in America...Unless you can afford a $300 an hour attorney, the average citizen gets ground up in the "Justice" system...Thousands of people aren't protesting just for fun.....
