Fished my sled again Wednesday. My victim, er, partner, was ShinBob. We were buddy boating with Rich on Taxfree. Our goal was to find that elusive AM spawning bass bite—and the 250-fish day they can bring. Anyways, Rich went left, we went right. We both found just OK fishing. Maybe I need to try an afternoon/evening session. I cancelled Friday’s trip.
Water was 67 degrees and change, clearish, and there wasn’t hardly any wind or current. No surface action either. We fished swimbaits, tubes and jigs. All worked. Plastics were Kman Special color. The bite REALLY died at 11:00 and we finally gave up at 1:30 with 35 fish on the clicker and 35 miles driven. It should be noted that when the bite took a dump, what still (barely) worked was casting a swimbait out and s-l-o-w-l-y cranking it along the bottom.
Stopped by Chevron and put 35 gallons in the sled. They should at least provide lube.
Anyways, had a fun day on the water with a great guy. Thanks for coming Shin. You are always welcome on the Trailer Trash.
I tried making Cheech and Chong blunt tubes. They worked early on.
