This report is from this past Sunday the 29th. I had the day off and was invited to fish with a buddy. Plan was to head to the 43 and stop of any life. We found a paddy outside the 9 and pulled 2 yellows and a small Dorado off of it. Proceeded to the 43 and found more sea turtles then anything. We did find a nice breezer of yellowfin but they were acting weird and wouldn’t let us get close. Anyways we ended up been closer to sci and found the big ones. And I mean BIG ones. They were up and foaming and we had them all to ourselves. We had solid opportunities At these fish. I threw the popper hoping my luck would continue and they wanted nothing to do with it. When that foamer went down I tied the smallest flatfall chovie colored on rigged with a single 6/0 J and assist hooks on top with a 80lb crimped leader. Saw them come up again and fire my jig out there and it gets inhaled by a cow. I saw the fish eat it and it was well over 200lbs. I was also fishing it with my Btg90j and my Tranx with 40 xxx and 80 cuatro underneath. He took me for a ride for a while I started to tighten my drag about a minute later he takes one long run with crazy head shakes and breaks me off. Buddy got bit twice on a coltsniper and it didn’t end well either. We also got blown up on the kite three times. Never stuck. First skunk for me all season. Water was purple. Weather was flat as a pancake. I have redemption coming this week as I’m on a 3.5 private charter on the Pacific Queen. Here’s a video of the foamer. Enjoy!
