ran the MARTUNI to "the corral" on the 27th for 3 days fishing...standard limits of albs on and south of the 238. BAITED AND FOUGHT AN EST. 150 POUND SWORD FOR 45 MINUTES...IT WAS LEADER WRAPPED AND I BELIEVE IT WAS DROWNING ITSELF. IT SAWED THROUGH THE LEADER AS WE BASICALLY PLAYED TUG-O-WAR FOR HALF THE FIGHT. I almost ran her down on the UPPER FINGER on the way south. She did'nt sink out, so we pinned a dino on a marlin rig, tied her to a brand new TLD20, slow trolled back up to her and she took it. For those of you that remember that day it was miserable for the boats coming home, but layed down in the afternoon. h20 was hovering 70 on the UPPER FINGER. ALWAYS HAVE A MARLIN RIG READY TO GO. IF MY PARTNER THAT DAY WAS NOT ON THE BALL AND MY TACKLE WAS NOT ORGANIZED WE WOULD OF BLOWN IT. THAT OPPORTUNITY ALONE MADE THE TRIP FOR ME!
OH YEAH, THAT NEXT THURSDAY, THE 31ST, I BAITED AND LANDED A 48.5 POUND WHITE SEA BASS OFF CARLSBAD STATE BEACH KELP. WIEGHED IN @ PACIFIC COAST BAIT AND TACKLE. it chased a calico to the boat and was suckered with our only macky, a 8/0 owner gorilla, seeker in-shore and an accurate boss 870 on the business end.
