We finally got to go offshore in our newly referbished 21 foot Bayrunner. It took about a month longer than we wanted but with the New Yamaha 4 Stroke 100hp we set our sites for the 182. Just past the 9 mile bank and about 7:30 am we decided we needed breakfast so we popped open our first Pacifico, just about then we came to a sliding stop because we almost ran over our first paddy. The chop and overcast skies made it challenging to spot. We started fishing Dines and after about 4 minutes, the Co-Captain said "I don't think anythings home", right then I hooked up with our first Dodo. It was a peanut, but it was our first. Not long after that Matty hooks up with her twin. We did a few more drifts and the size of the fish wasn't getting better. Matty was the hot Dodo stick and he release about 3. We were going to bail but I told him that we should drift one more time. On that "Last" Drift I hook up on something nice, about 6 minutes later we have a 20# 5oz. YFT on deck. Hoots and Hollars were in full effect. Ok, Ok, one more drift! Matty hooks up to nice Dodo on his Lighter gear and he's having a blast with the fight. He almost get the fish to gaff when he tells me that she has a Bull following her. I throw a Dine on and it only took about 2 seconds for this Bad Boy to pick it up and gray hound just ripping line, doing arials, Matty no assist gaffs his fish perfectly through the throat. It was an exciting day on the water for our first offshore day on the new boat.

    16# on the Nose!

    Hey Matt,
Nice report and sounds like a fun day on the water. You definitely can do some damage with your bayrunner. Also did you try the Saltist reel we traded and if so what did you think? Hopefully you caught that bull on that reel.

Thanks guys! It was awesome to be off shore in a boat I can call my own. Jimmy, I gave the reel to my buddy who owns the boat with me. His car got broken into and he lost about 4 really nice set-ups. I'm sure he will put it to use.

    Ha! Nate! Classic!

Yeah, funny thing is I thought I had lost that camera, but my wife found it a couple months back. I'll develop them soon and post. Figure it would give a few people some laughs. Hope all is well.

Classic! Best photo ever. Man my stomach was hurting, and Matty really did land a Dodo while I was crapping. I had him laughing so hard he almost fell in the water. I had a lot of firsts on that boat in one day:urno1:

Oh no, kinda looks like I'm seeing the progression from manpower to horsepower with Matty now..... I guess now all you need is an Albacore and its on!

Good job on the fish Matt. Nice report, nice pics, good angles.....

Wish I would have taken a pic of Nate on the Long Run's swimstep, he didn't look nearly as relaxed as you were.

Oh also, great picture of the first straight man to ever wear Crocs.......

Shawn- I looked at those Crocs for a good half hour before I purchaseed them. I told my wife that they are Gay, she told me no one would see them! I guess just about everyone on Bloodydecks thinks I'm a Metrosexual. The truth being, I just want to protect my feet when you have flopping fish on the deck. Don't clown too much:gay:
