As our vacation was coming to an end, we were planning to go fishing Saturday 9/14 but when my daughter needed a babysitter, plans were cancelled for that day. Last minute I asked my wife, let's go this afternoon. So while I gassed up the boat, the wife went out to buy ice and snacks. We got in the water at 1:10PM, and trolled out to the pinnacle since the weather was nice, winds were coming from Kauai very lightly. Before we reached the pinnacle, we decided to turn toward R buoy, outside the 1000 we found a huge bird pile, but nothing came up. Winds picked up and tossed us all over the place till we reached the ledge, frustrated I turned right and trolled back toward the harbor deciding to call it a day. As soon as we got by First Hawaiian, we took a strike, I told my wife to start clearing lines. The second port outrigger goes down, I tell my wife to take that one. it soon comes off, but the stbd side still on. I thought I had a large piece of trash on, but as it came closer, noticed it was an ono! Brought it to gaff at 4:30PM. We lost one, but glad we got this 23 pounder! Great way to end our vacation. Good eats tomorrow!
Aloha and have a great weekend!

    Jimmy

    Jimmy and wife,
Congrats on the late bite Ono! Not bad for a short trip on the water.....I like efficient fishing! Lol. Too bad about the one that got away but das okay leave some for next time. Notice that when fisherman bring their better half out on the water....good things seem to happen!

Aloha Donald! Thanks, and yes, we all doing well here! Came back from Vegas, and jumped on the scale, did a lot of walking in Vegas (since the machines were tight) walking was the next best thing, came back and jumped on the scale - lost three pounds, LOL... Hope all is well with you and your ohana! Have you been able to get back to fishing?

Mitchell, thanks! Seems my luck this year was not there, only the first and last day. The best loss I encountered was losing three pounds from walking a lot. Walking away from the machines when was "cold", Haha...
Yes, she is a good luck charm! Hope we can get another soon!

Hi Randy, thanks! Have you been fishing?
