It reopens on July 1st, this Wednesday. The fish there probably have forgotten what a hook looks like after this long break :D

As an online fishing buddy has asked, I've put together a video on my favorite rig for the lake, in case you're interested. Tight lines:cheers:

Seen a lot of different rigs.... that ones pretty cool. Could work for many salt and freshwater fish..... for sure.

I appreciate you sharing the video and post brother. Can never learn enough rigging variations. Thanks for the post and video brother!

You were right about the salt water fish as well!

I've got my largest opaleyes with this rig as logged here: https://www.tipsharing.com/fishing/tutorial_opaleye

Some updates from my friend on the opening day at lake hodges:
  • Lots of active fish: almost non-stop bites in the morning
  • So many people: took 30 minutes to check-in:oops:
  • Fish has strong smell, probably due to the algae

Yeah, I bet. My friend mentioned that the algae smell is strong, so I suggested him soak the fillet in salt water for a few minutes to reduce the taste. Probably I should compile a video on how to reduce the fishy smell

Nice job on the fish looks like a good meal there.
