Big blues dawn dusk bite huge mass of fish only some bit. All flatfall 200-250g glow mostly shimano (all upgraded hooks except one crazy guy just tied straightup to 130 fluoro... He got the biggest) NO bites on the 500g (though previous trip got some on 500g) Highly recommend bringing extra flatfalls lots of people lost theirs due to tangles. I loaned out my 200g shimano ff to another angler who brought a 160g nonglow. He didnt get more than a few drops and gone. Shame i didnt bring my other multiple 200 to 300. Fish are 20 to 100 fathoms. Hot stick dropped half his spectra on a talica 25 before grinding all the way up. It hurts grinding for hours on end... I only had the 500g ffs no bites no nundges nada. Tried flyline and sinker rigged deans nada. During the day we traveled all around sci looking for yellows we did well. did the yummy kite thing for an hour around 5pm one blow up no stick as we were looking around for a spot on nightbite. C. Jeff rather have us catch yellows during the day instead of waisting bait drifting good call. No dead flying fish onboard. Awesome time super tired. Great captain and crew. He fished hard burned lotsa gas looking instead of just drifting... 14 bft only one in 50lb range rest were 100 plus 2 i think went close to 250 one maybe 300 (big hammerhead.) Lotsa luck out there! Oh yeah all on retrieve bites.

How are the fish processed locally? Are they cut on board or is there a local processor (OC/LA) area that can cut the fish for you?

Incredible fishin! You cant forget those insane tangles though ! 8 + ppl at a time tangled on one fish. 1 fish came on the boat without a single hook. Just completely tangled in line. No time to re rig/crimp so I tied My#130 fluoro top shot directly to a 500 gram lead masters with STOCK hooks. Guess I’m crazy

At least they didn't just dump the tangles overboard like a lot of boats I have been on. That pretty much bites the big one.

    Congrats on a great trip!

Monday morning I didn’t fish, just helped out with the chaos. Counted 10 + anglers on the 1 fish that came up with out a hook.
