We got a couple a few weeks ago. Fished Yoyo in the morning but actually ended up on a very nice boil while running back from LJ to Dana landing. Big models on the plug.

If there's one good way to get this board to wake up from the dead, post the title La Jolla Spring Yellowtail under inshore reports!

Water temp up a few more degrees and things should start popping.

WSB posts would have gotten people even more excited.

But of course, anything that says TUNA would be at the top of the page for a week.

    LJ Yellas,
Saturday 05/18/2019 at 6:53 P.M. just above the South La Jolla SMR. Tide was moving, so was the current. Water was holding around 65 degrees. Mostly Sunny Sky's with a few clouds on the horizon as the Rain was approaching.

Lots of Bait on the meter, birds working loosely not very organized but staying in one area (Apx. a 100 Yard SQ). Terns were not the key identifier here (They were working, but not on the surface fish) Pelicans and Gulls were on the fish.

Had a few big models bust off the bow on the surface but they did not stay up for more then 15 seconds or so. Combination of Lack of Preparedness and beer drinking resulted in a missed opportunity.

Stayed in the area and dropped the Salas 6x Junior down a few times and was rewarded with this 26lb yellow. Had some fish meter a few more times and nothing came from it except two small calicos. (Released)

Good Yellow Tail fishing the last few weeks. 2nd Picture is a 34lb Yellow caught in North County basically on the beach on 04/27/2019. Again Pelicans and Gulls told the tail.

    Thanks for the report.

Next time I tow to SD I'll give a shout out. Had a great time Memorial Day.

Smooth seas and tight lines to all.
