Met the regular Sunday crew at the dock at 5 am sharp to load up my buddies rebuilt 21 ft baja bayrunner. We had heard the YT were on the chew between 7:30 and 10. We blacked out the bait tank with 40-50 Macs and celebrate with an early morning Coors Latte before making the short journey to the fishing grounds. We threw 2 rapalas in around 7:45 and within 5 minutes we were bent on a giant bonner and a 15lb yellowtail. We did not see any schools on the fishing machine while cleaning up the deck so we decided to continue metering around up the high spots near the lobster buoys. Almost immediately after zigzagging the high spots we got stopped on another rapala fish, this one being a 25# YT. We land it and start throwing a few baits and bonito chunks. We had 2 guys fishing bait on the stern and 2 fishing yoyos on the bow for the rest of the morning picking off 15-35lb yellowtails. By 10 AM we only had 1 bait left due to steady chum and 12 dead YT. At 10:30 All hell broke loose when my buddy hooks up on something giant! Just before 11 AM we get the fish to color and pull up a 100lb possible grouper??? (Need Help Identifying). My buddy gaffs his a** and there is nothing but cheers for phenomenal capture. Back in MB by noon. Wow what a great day! If you can confirm this fish is a grouper that would be very helpful, see 3rd picture enclosed.
