Saturday 10/15 jumped on my buddies dads 37ft sportfisher, launched out of mission bay and made the trek up the line to the backside of Catalina. Anchored up and spent the night to wake up and cruise offshore the next morning. 5 miles off the backside around 6am saw a spot of porpoise doing they're dances and knew they were holding tuna. Drove up past them shit down the boat and started chumming heavy. 5 minutes later nothing happened and we were confused as the porpoise passed us by, a second later BOOM blow up on the chum off the stern, another, another, tossed out 20lb and a #2 book and we had a triple hook up on 20-40lb yellowfin. Did that twice and they wouldn't stick with us again. 67degree water.
