Catching toad wahoo in sight of land, just doesn't get much better than that.
I'am going down next week Dave, so nice to see a current report. Hope the wahoo are still around. What worked best for you & crew on the wahoo? I'am flying down,Ensenada to Guerro Negro & than a van ride to La Bocana. Need to watch the weight on my tackle so any help you could give me would be great. Great report & pictures.

The wahoo weren’t picky. They hit a tuna feather, ( snipped off). X-raps, large jet head, and marlin lures. Probably best to use a large skipjack pattern xrap in tight and large jet heads. 8 to 10 knots. 10am to 1 pm was best.

Thanks for the great report Dave. Looks like great times. I may head down there this coming weekend. Who can I fish with if all the pangeros are working lobster?

The main captains are working the lobster, but they have been training some of the younger guys. All three pangas are available.

yak and lowe duck hunting skiff but they identify as sportfishing crusiers
I went there back in 91 when there were no roads gas station resturants etc...still have some good memories of diving for atcha... heating the oil and chopping ingredients for fish tacos and then while the oil was getting hot taking g five cats for five fish for the taco meat....calicos so thick that you saw three five pounds rCing towards your jig at a time but you sped up your retrieve to get away from them because your were trying to catch a grouper not those pesky five pound calicos... still my biggest yellow of the thousands I've caught in my life ate a jig in lime green water at ballena..
do they still turn off the electricity at 9pm ?

Lot of changes since 91. Paved to Abreojos
Paving under way to la Bocana. Well stocked market, internet, cell service, potable water piped in from Vizcaino, reliable power, gas station. All nice to have, however none of which I’ve really needed to enjoy my visits to Baja over the last 38 years.
