Headed down to Bahia for a quick trip with two fishing buddies, pulling my new boat (23ft bayrunner). First trip their since federal power arrived. Stayed at Guillermos with air-conditioning 7/24 and great water pressure in the bano. First day couldn't make bait and ended up with only a few cabrilla. Second day hired a guia and had better luck making bait on the far side of the bay. Headed north to 7 mile reef and boated 7 nice yellows (15 to 27lbs). Saw dorado but no luck. The guys next door scored 8 dodos. Relaxed the 3rd day then headed home. Lots of road work and slow going. Overall great trip.

11.5 hours each way. The road work probably cost us 45min each way.

North of Santo Tomas and North and South of Catavena. Sections are about 10 miles long each. Just have to take it slow. Of course I was pulling the boat. Not as bad it you aren't hauling a trailer.

Was your skipper "Jose" from Guillermo's? That man is a fish magnet! He took us down Roca Bernabe for some of the best Leopard Grouper fishing I've ever experienced!!!!!!!

Guillermos ... how did you get a hold of them. I have tried email and phone ... Nothing

I am leaving a week from today and was hoping to make some reservations.

how much was the guide? I have the same boat as you (23 Bayrunner) and was thinking of hiring a guide the first day to show us the ropes (Bait and such).

any more information would be great.

    Byron!

Keep trying to get in touch with them via phone. Their e-mail does not work. They should have room, if not try Bahia Villa. That is the other decent hotel on the water. Make sure you bring a second anchor if you are plan on keeping your boat in the water over night. Roger has a buoy at his place. It can from flat calm to 50 mph wind in less than a couple of minutes. We had it go from flat calm to 4 foot seas in a matter of 30 minutes. Lots of dorado on the surface. Yellowtail at depths. Good idea to hire a guide. And yes, most places have AC at night....
