Literally.
Went out and set 3 deep drop rigs, two floats and one tip rod, one deep for sword and the others slightly different to see if there’s Opah or tuna willing to play.
set a big squid jig up with a mackerel fillet, light and extra weight to get it down where our baits have been getting torn up by big squid.
Had a chum slick going and pitch bait rod ready for some shark action and absolutely nothing happened all day. Usually we have baits getting smacked or rods loading up from squid or getting baits hit and torn in half on the retrieve but since we seemed to have all our bases covered today the fish decided go somewhere else.
That was until my son got a blind strike on a half Mack he was drifting (pitch rod) to pass time. Ended up with a 5ft ish blue shark! A first for him. Made his day and got the skunk off the boat. He wasn’t too keen about taking a pic with it though.
