Left Heeia at 4:45am and by the time I got to the head marker the sun was starting to show so decided to make a quick pass on the 40 fathom up to the buoy by Mokumanu...nada...so headed out toward LL buoy. There was only a few scattered birds on the way and even by the bouy there was not much going on so continued out for another 9 miles. At 25 miles there was still nothing much going on so headed toward MM. All along the way there were small bits of rubbish floating around by nothing substantial. Managed to get one Ono and two small Mahimahi and lost another mahimahi along the way. Probably went the wrong way or not far enough out, either way, for us the action was really slow. Hope the fishing picks up soon!

Not a bad catch, seams to be the story smaller fish or the wrong way. we went out last week and hooked 1 small aku about 20 miles out and north. saw one sail and a school of bait sized mahi and the bird piles were small and few.

Right on Russ. Looks like a successful trip to me. 3 fish in the boat would be a record for me. I still can't seem to find the fish.

Good going, Russ! It's been so slow lately that a three fish day is a real blessing.

WTG Russ! Like the others said, you're doing good, especially when it's slow!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Sure miss the Ahi being around, but gotta appreciate what you can catch right now and more importantly sharing good times with friends and getting home safely! Oh yeah, mo' better than a whitewash to! I've been hearing that a few small mahis and onos are keeping things interesting for some of my friends fishing off of Hi-Kai.....and no need to go 25 miles to catch em either!:imdumb: Oh well, hope everyone going out will have a safe and enjoyable fishing trip!
