Arrived at Heeia Kea at about 0710 hours, expecting a parking nightmare due to the Bad Dads tournament, but was surprised with an abundance of parking. Got the new boat in the water and headed out. Put out the lures at the head buoy and made the turn south. At about 0815, while passing the last of the "yellow marker buoys" the 4/0 on the short corner starts screaming. After clearing lines, and a short 10 minute fight, boated a small ono estimated at about 20-25 pounds. Went to Makapuu, and turned around. While passing the wave height buoy, the middle goes off, but doesn't stick. Ended up with a shredded lure, and no fish. :shithappens: Not too bad for the maiden voyage of my new boat. Looking forward to trying to put more blood on my deck in the trips to come!

Thanks for all of comments! It was a great way to break in the new boat. Hopefully the next time It'll have bloody decks again.

The boat rides super nice. Little bit wet, but the windshield takes care of that. Super stable, even with 4 guys on one side, the boat doesn't lean over. The wake she throws is really nice, as you can see. Came with a ComNav autopilot in it. That makes life easy! The boat is a 1998 23' Surrat.

Congrats! Now that's the way every boat's shake down run should end, with a nice fish in the box.

Good looking boat. I especially like the tall prow -- must make a for a nice, dry ride.

Engine is a 5.0 GL, with a 290 duo prop leg.

I've gotta say that I love this boat. This is the 5th, and hopefully the last one. Ridden on all different kinds, and this one fits me, and my style of fishing the best.

Now to try and keep blood on the deck!

Thanks for all the great comments everyone. Appreciate the Aloha.

    Tight lines....
