Over Easter weekend we had two Parkers out, on the Offshore III with me was Jake Burnworth "Fingertroll" and his Father in law and son.
Day one, fri: someone forgot their dramamine and well.....it was over before it started.
Day two, sat: Had my wife go to town and get some sea-sick meds for Larry, so he was feeling alot better. After making bait we headed straight to the 15 fathom and started landing mixed reds & whitefish,we had two days fishing to do today so we put the wood to it. Between the 15 and 240 we spotted surface boils, birds! run&gun on two big pile-ups of yellowtail sort of milling around a bunch of mackerel that were feeding on krill. I got the first hook-up off the bow and handed off to Jakes father-in law........ooops farmed it, then Jake got a weak pick up on bait and they went down. On to 240 and hook up with Capt. Oscar on the OffshoreIV with his group, they were doing very well on big reds when we showed up. Right off the bat Larry & Jake land a couple of nice Lings and its pretty much one after another either a big red or a Ling. We used mostly dropper-loop rigs wt a live on bottom and strip squid on top.
Weather was super nice on Sat-sun, some fog on sat but clear now. Water temps were in the mid-low 50s inside with warmer water near 240 & 6 fath.

    Love those San Quintin reds!

Have you ever fished them on baitcasters? It's a blast!

Thanks Kelly for a great trip.
We made it home safe Saturday night. No border wait at Garita de Otay. Tons of US plates through Ensenada and Rosarito. Lots of Easter traffic near la bufadora. 1 Military checkpoint near Santo Tomas (waived through going both directions). Stayed at the Old Mill, still a dump but a cheap dump at $35ish per for 3 beds. Don Eddies cooked our fresh catch for $8 with rice, tortillas and soup (just OK).

That yellowtail action on the surface was amazing in 52-53 degree water. Too bad Larry farmed our only hook-up.

    Kelly,
Great job as always...love to read your reports because I dont get back to San Quintin as often now that I am living in Tampa, Fl. Still have the place in Campo Lorenzo and a new boat, too. Hope to be heading back soon and enjoying some of the great fishing. Keep up the postings because they really are great and appreciated.
    Best,
    Doc Leaf
