JYG jigs any good?

A couple months ago I was on a bluefin trip and we limited out our first night dropping jigs to 300-400 ft of water but I noticed that my JYG jig did not get hit once and this guy next to me (on a SK jig) hooked and boated 2 60 pounders before I got bit so I changed my jig to a Daiwa SK and boom first drop I catch a fatty. So I was wondering has anyone else caught any fish on a JYG jig? Cause I lost my faith in them that night.

the jig doesnt matter they bite weights now. Maybe you werent at the right depth?

You put pretty much anything in front of them and they’ll suck it in.

Haha. Yep possibly.

Better to go with a jig heavier than needed than one too light… the first jig down is often the one to get bit. After all, the early worm catches the bird!

Was it the same weight as the SK jigs?

I got my 1st 2 over 100 last year on a 400g JYG and a 200 this year on the same jig. Lost 2 other over 150 after 1 hrs. Saw them both close up. How much you want for yours?

I'm no expert, however have found that
when targeting the 300 - 400 ft depths it becomes critical to have:
1,,, Metered or marked line to know how deep your jig actually is. Guessing not allowed. And account for boat drift and current. Got to fish where the fish are.
2,,, A jig with a slim straight profile, at least 200 gm, not a jig with a wide center like the JYG. You need to get to depth fast, avoid fishing a zig zag fluttering type of jig. They take for ever, if ever, to get to depth.

Sometimes it does not matter what you have tied on...

The majority of these fish came on flat fall jigs in a 2 hour drift...

I doubt anything can be identified at 300-400ft...especially at night.
