I was trying to fish my JX at 15# strike. It was getting jammed up trying to deep drop 6oz weights. I opened it up and cleaned out some very gummy grease. After oiling it back up, I am still losing freespool performance at 13# at strike. Maybe this is why I can't cast fishing 40# lines. Does anyone have a fix or do I need to send this reel in?

Like all aluminum reels, your reel needs to be serviced annually. That is probably the main issue. Also like all lever drags, losing free spool at higher drag may be due to a bad pinion bearing -- the first bearing to go out on all lever drags. Avet does great service at a good price. Just saying ...
