Left the point at 7 am with 3 scoops of bait, 15 flyers, and on a mission to put some meat on the boat as our season has started off slow with 4 heartbreak trips in a row. Worked our way to the corner in grease like conditions, saw a couple of puddlers that sunk out after a panga nearly ran them over. Pushed further west dragging a yummy seeing very little signal of fish. Looked as all the other boats and sporty’s in the area were doing the same, only saw one bent rod all day on the Oside95. 10 minutes after we had decided to point it back home just south east of the 43 we spotted a couple of jumpers, deployed the flyer upwind of them and brailed a ton of bait. Watched a fish work through our chum that led straight to our flyer. One blow up and it stuck, 30 minute fight on my talica 50 and seeker 2x4 combo and she had two gaffs in her. Our only bite of the day and it was our personal best bluefin! Taped at 70” long and 52” around. Had the boys from fast and easy fish pickup waiting for us back at the slip at kona kai, five star had the fish waiting for us the following morning. The stars aligned for us and definitely got the morale booster we needed.
