She was a mixed up bitch today; like She didn't get what She wanted for Christmas, very turbulent. I'm speaking of the ocean. Trying to eke out a couple of days on the water before the New Years during my time off. A bird in the hand means risk, can't wait for optimal conditions or warmth.

Headed out of D.P. round 9. Went to target Rockfish. Ocean was jumbled. Swell looked west (3'- to the occasional, can't see the horizon) and wind was S/SE being brisk till 11am. Water was 59-62. There was a drift and the wind was going the opposite way. For some reason I kept contact with the bottom in 220'. Picked up two small Reds off the Point, got bored so I headed inside to fish structure.

First cast was a nice Calico and the bite continued intermittently for 1.5 hours. Approximately 10 or so bass wanted to play, mostly calicos. Kept one of those and the two Reds for tonight's dinner.

Been out on many rougher days but my stomach felt like I ate rotten Jambalaya today.

Still roped off for the holidays. I'd say 30 or so spots. Half full yesterday, even thought the dock was empty. They store a lot of boats usually, where do they go?

That was a nice day fishing LJ but when I saw jumbalayah I thought you cooked up some local crab, lobster, clams, mussels, rockfish and made a big pot of Dana Point Jumbalayah. I hope 2019 is a good one for you.

I had the same thought as Corey! Sucks to have bubble guts, but I'm glad you got to get out and pick on a few fish.

Sorry guys. I'll do better on my thread titles. It was the only way I could think of to describe the way my stomach felt.

Today Jambalaya sounds good. When looking for the correct spelling I saw a lot of great recipe's.

Your title was fine. It convinced my eyes to tell my stomach this is something we should be looking at.

    Jambalaya does sound good though.

Similar conditions in O'side 59-63. Bass fishing was ok. Lots of smaller cod.

Mixed up seas upset my stomach.

Been there too, rough mixed seas can make for an unwanted second helping of yesterday's food.

Just remember one thing. You always start your Jumbalayh and Gumbo with the Louisiana Trilogy.
