GREETINGS FROM THE TROPICS

ALLOW ME TO START OFF BY WISHING ALL OF OUR READERS A BELATED, HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY. WE ARE ANCHORED NEAR THE PARK RANGER STATION AT COIBA ISLAND AS I WRITE THIS FISHING REPORT. THIS WILL BE THE LAST FISHING REPORT FOR PESCA PANAMA'S 2010-2011 FISHING SEASON. WE LOOK FORWARD TO OUR DOWN TIME FOR A LITTLE REST & RELAXATION, BUT WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FORWARD TO THE START OF OUR NEXT FISHING SEASON, STARTING THIS COMING NOVEMBER. INCLUDING THIS TRIP, WE WILL BE UP 25% OVER LAST YEAR'S CHARTERS. WE ARE HAIL AND HARDY AND DO HOPE THIS LETTER FINDS YOU IN THE SAME UPWARD DIRECTION.

WE CONTINUE TO DO A LOT OF FISHING THIS TIME OF YEAR WITH ANGLERS FROM BRAZIL. YOU NEED TO REMEMBER THIS IS THEIR WINTER SEASON. THIS WEEK WE WERE HOST TO "PESCAFLORIPA" WITH THEIR GROUP OF15 BRAZILIAN ANGLERS

1-José Rui Cabral Soares e Edilson Brognoli
2-Eduardo Rappel e Ricardo Rappel
3-Ricardo Garbeloto Teixeira e Sérgio Maeoka
4-Ourides Sebastião Steil e Paulo José Aragão
5-Jonas Broering e Longino Phillipi
6- José Roberto Blanco
7-Airton Galdino e Antonio José Papior
8-Celio Daros e Everton Vargas

THEIR WEEK STARTED OUT WITH THE NICEST WEATHER, WE HAD BLUE SKIES AND VERY LITTLE WIND. THERE WAS THE SW SWELL COMING IN THAT WE NORMALLY HAVE THIS TIME OF YEAR BUT NOTHING TO REALLY SPEAK OF. NOW THE QUESTION WAS GOING TO BE, HOW GOOD IS THE FISHING GOING TO BE?
YELLOWFIN TUNA
TUNA WERE STILL ON TAP THIS WEEK. WE CAUGHT TUNA FROM MONTUOSA ISLAND TO JICARON ISLAND. THOUGH THE YELLOWFIN BITE IS STARTING TO TAPER OFF WE WERE STILL ABLE TO MAKE SOME NICE CATCHES. MOST OF THE FISH WERE IN THE 60 TO 100 LB RANGE WITH SEVERAL 200 LB PLUS TUNA BEING THE LARGEST CAUGHT THIS WEEK. THURSDAY PROVED TO BE ONE OF OUR BEST DAYS FOR YELLOWFIN WHILE FISHING AROUND MONTUOSA ISLAND
INSHORE THE ACTION WAS DOWN SOME FROM LAST WEEK. WE DID SEE MORE CUBERA SNAPPERS CAUGHT THIS WEEK THAN IN PREVIOUS WEEKS AND THE SAME FOR BLUE TREVALLY. WE ALSO HAD A FEW DORADO AND WAHOO CAUGHT BUT THEY WERE SOMEWHAT SCARCE.

WHEN WE FINISHED THE WEEK WE HAD A BARGE LOAD OF HAPPY ANGLERS, GOOD WEATHER, FAIR TO GOOD FISHING AND A LOT OF SCOTCH DRANK. I THINK I CAN REMEMBER EVEN SOME GUITAR PLAYING AND DANCING ON THE FRONT DECK.

I WANT TO THANK THIS GROUP AND ALL THE ANGLERS THAT FISHED WITH PESCA PANAMA THIS YEAR. WE HAVE HAD A FUN TIME AND LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING ALL OF YOU FISHING WITH PESCA PANAMA.
TIGHT LINES,

CAPTAIN JAY GUSTIN & RICKY Z
