For Sale Johnson 40 2stroke $1400

1986 Johnson 2 stroke. Remote controls included.

Very good condition. Came off a whaler from Orange County. I bought it last week from a guy for my kids boat project but we need something bigger HP. I thought the 40 would do it and got it because it’s In great condition. But looks a bit small for the boat. So I need to pass it on before it gets buried in garage like my other ones. (Tohatsu 15, evinrude 4hp -also avail. )

located in Santa Barbara. I can deliver. Local CL market is flat. Need to sell it. Don’t mind driving south If needed.
Has the VRO oil injection. Has been improved from previous owner at a shop. Have receipts.
$1400 with controls. OBO. Saw it running prior to me purchasing last week.

yes its a 15HP 2005 4 stroke long shaft, electric start or pull start. its big, heavy.

It was a kicker on a sailboat when i got it, never found a boat for it - so its in my garage i start it up and run it once in a while. motor is great shape but there is some corrosion on lower unit. almost no time on it. i can text email you pics id start around $800 seems to be current local market price.

I’ve been running a 1988 Johnson 48SPL on my 18’ Bayrunner. I’m at elevation, up to 9,700 feet. I have 3 props for it, 11 3/4 X 17, 12 1/4 X 15, and a 13 pitch prop I bought for running back and forth up at the highest lake I can drive to.

Have only had it in the shop twice. Once for a head gasket, and a couple of years ago, some minor electrical work. Both times, the mechanics said they love working on it, pretty simple.
