Ok might have him mixed up with another long ranger. Was Jeff on the Q105 at any point and his call name ”girth”?

He’s a good guy, glad I finally got to fish with him on the RP last year. Great mind set and attitude towards life.

I really like Jeff. He was with me on my 1st cow at Clipperton at 4AM.
Hope he does well on the yacht! I'm sure he will. :)

Bug for rug. Good for you Jeff. Great way to finish your career...

Was with me for my first non straight mono bait fish Alijos wahoo. Heavy wind drift and hooked the fish with a wired sardine

I took a decade off before my last trip. He gladly showed me a tied connection and knot 2x2. That can be reefed on all day long

When I was missing sato crimps performance confidence and a reverse trilene confidence, from being outdated. The 2x2 and tony pena gave me confidence

Was a honor. When Jeff requested a, rail shot

Fished with Jeff many times on the Qualifier
I learned a whole lot from him like the time we hit a mega school of Dorado and everyone was clusterfvcked on the stern, I wanted no part, Jeff leans out the window and tells me to go get my bomb outfit and sink it out a 100 ft or so up at the bow. First drop I hung a 72# wahoo.
    3 or 4 drops later I hung a 68#
Next thing I know there's 10+ guys throwing bombs on the bow.
    No other skinnies caught.

I always listen to the Captain when he gives direction like that. :-)

I did a few trips with Jeff way back on the Q.. He was an intense and aggressive fisherman back then. As most of us do, he got a little more relaxed as he aged but still a very fishy captain. I wish him well.

Certainly had tons of great runs with Jeff over the decades. Several trips that come up often during many Long Range conversations was that legendary night bite on Wahoo at Hurricane Bank. Had never encountered a WFO skinny bite during those hours like that ever before.., nor since. Those Clipperton Island trips also were always off-the-scale when Jeff was driving. One helluva sport boat Captian... and friend too!
