Back in the saddle again, with my dogs to Izors Friday 7/16 after about 3 weeks. Nice weather! Light breeze, water Temps at 70.3, clear water, decent current. The area had 4 sport boats and about twice as many private boats. Got 5 fish right away, like in 8 casts. Wasn't expecting that from the reports I've seen. Using plastics and drifting put about 35 on the boat. About 8 calicos, all shorts, the rest sand bass to 18 inches, about 65% legal size. All released, to the chagrin of the dogs. Colors were all over the place, seemed Colors mattered less than putting it in front of them. Most seemed suspended, the smaller fish had a very soft bite.
Although, I did not see anyone catch surface fish there was scattered action there. Under the birds were barracuda breaking the surface. They seemed to move around quite a bit popping up in several spots. Caught one myself on a chrome krocodile. Saw several followers in the clear water along with plenty of bait. The sport boats bugged out about 10am, then 3 others steamed in about 12:30. Did not see them be too busy. Water Temps actually got colder to 69.3 by 1pm when I called it with the normal afternoon wind starting to pick up. Here's a couple extra pics from a couple trips too. Nice to be back, nice to catch fish. Tight lines!
