Back from a pre-Memorial Day river trip where it was nearly a ghost town. Good weather, luv that clear Colorado River water!
Got out on the water Friday 5/28 to Izors with the dogs in tow. Water Temps 61.7 to 63.2, water clarity was 15+ feet, mixed direction wind, swell, and current made the drifts interesting. Plenty of bait, saw one huge meandering pod of dolphin near the east anchorage attracting lots of birds. Upon investigation, nothing but dolphin, no surface action. Using plastics put 24 in the boat, Calicos and sand bass 12 to 20 inches. All released. Got 6 Sandies 17+ inches. About 8 Calicos, the rest Sand Bass. Most of the Sandies were legal size, most of the Calicos were shorts. Seemed green was the color of choice, however caught them on every color I used. Had to move around quite a bit. Fish seemed to be in the bottom half of the water column. Dogs had a blast and bird-dogged the dolphin, birds, and about 6 sea lions cruising the area.
Still waiting for Catalina and offshore, seems it wants to... sun came out early but it never really warmed up.
Enjoy Memorial Weekend, thank you armed forces and veterans for your service, and especially those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. God Bless America.
Tight lines, and be careful this weekend.

Thank you for the report. Your labs are dry?? My lab jumps in every time a fish comes up and tries to retrieve it for me - was funny the first few times, but not so much after pulling him out of the water after every fish...

The female is in the water all the time; birds, dolphin, fish makes no matter. She loves it! She gets pretty heavy getting her on the swim step, but it's worth it!
