Ventured out with the dog Monday 1/23 to Izors. Found cold temperatures outside, water temp 58, dirty water with 8 ft clarity, birds all over with a mix of pelicans but mostly gulls, decent current and steady breeze at 5-7 coming mostly from the west.
Bass were cooperative with 20 calicos and sand bass to 18 inches, all caught drifting plastics, all released. Most seemed pretty concentrated, when you found them there were multiple hookups. One bass was jugged with squid, seemed to be fin bait around too.
The Navy delayed exit till about 8:30 am bringing a ship in, nice contrast with the ship and the mountains. Gonna need to upgrade the swivels apparently as one broke. On the fathometer, is that squid or fin bait?
The dog and I had a great day with Catalina on one side and the snow capped mountains on the other. As my coach used to say, "Great day to be alive!"
Tight lines!
