Haven't thrown up a report in a while so thought i'd share. This is a report from Thursday 10/11and Friday 10/14. Launched out of Mission bay on Thursday 10/14 with HORRID bait. Got out of the channel and headed for the 302 area in grease flat conditions. I quickly found a patty outside of the 9 and lost a nice fish right away. Picked up and moved on to the canyon where I found the porpoise and was the only boat working them. Ended up getting a few skippies off these and one YFT and continued to work the school until 3 sporties and a few other private boats showed up. With limited bait I decided to call it a day and head home in absolute grease flat conditions. I needed redemption. I went back out on Saturday 10/14 with my good buddy Dustin and his Dad on the A-salt Weapon. With thunderstorms but minimal wind, we cleared the point at day break. Ended up stopping on a paddy outside the canyon and metered them thick. Stayed patient and it all started to come together. Quickly put 5 good grade YFT on the deck and a half dozen skippies. Content, we headed towards home around 11:00 am. Then, with a single splash out of the corner of my eye, I saw the head-slamming tail-smacking porpoise. Got in front of them, metered them and it busted wide. Meter was lit and they were thick in the corner. An Absolute blast on the light gear. Dustin's Dad hooked a 30+lb bruiser on the 20lb rig for the jackpot fish. Called in some other boats and headed in with the bag stuffed. Limits of laughs, fish and good times. I love this shit.
