Just kidding! July 22nd, Little man Tallon and I head off on our weekly fishing day aboard our Harbor Boat Club 21' Panga.

Little man was extra pumped because I booted him from the boat while watching the weather brew on Saturday morning. He got on the boat Saturday all ready to go. While waiting to get bait, the skies freaked me out a bit and I called Mommy to pick him up. We got bait and he was ready to roll when I turned for the fuel dock and told him he was out. The look of disappointment on his face broke my heart, but in hindsight, I'm really glad he wasn't on the boat for the weather that followed......

Yesterday was a different weather story! Killer day on the water in every way. We started our day a little late and arrived to a bit of a bait line. Little man knows how to conserve energy.
[IMG] We clear the harbor at 9:30 and motor straight SW for maybe 2 miles and notice lots of boats parked in every direction closer to the point than I'm used to. I see a bunch of guys hooked up, so I figure I'll motor past it a bit and shut down.[IMG]
Game on! Did a little chunking and soaked a big ole dean and about 3 minutes after arrival, we're hooked up. 15 minutes or so and the first YFT of the day hits the deck. A little more chunking and wham! Double for Tallon and I! This proves a little more challenging because now my fishing coach is a little too busy to help me out. He's more concerned about his own epic battle underway. [IMG]After about 30 minutes, both those YFT have met a similar fate. [IMG]
Now, this is the ridiculous part: I was kinda over catching tuna and wanted to go Dodo hunting, so we left. I can hardly believe I've been fishing locally my whole life and would never believe you if you told me I'd leave a pretty insane tuna bite to go find fish, but that's what happened. We have a freezer full of tuna, canned tuna, smoked tuna, you name it. We've caught a lot of tuna this year......

So we put out the trollers and Tallon drove us out while I started cleaning fish. This is the haul from the first stop.[IMG]
We weren't spotting patties too well but I was metering fish EVERYWHERE at 100ft or so. There's a pretty big volume out there. We came across a few patties, but not much happening. Around 1:30, we drift by one and get bit hard. Tallon tried to fight it, but it was a bit too much for him. I set it in the rod rolder and put the Talica 12 in low gear and over the next 30 minutes, he drug it to the boat. Another 30+lb tuna. [IMG]We were done and off to the fuel dock for treats![IMG]
Boat scrubbed, everything put away at home and dad is worked, so what does Tallon want to do? [IMG]Off to the BMX track for the Wednesday night races of course. 5 year old kids have a lot of energy. 45 year old dads, not so much.......

Awesome report and catch! Is that at the Orange Y track? I took my son there but he was too small to use the track. You're an awesome Dad!

Yep, Orange Y. They have 5 and under class on Wed, Fri and Sun. Also, evry other Sunday, they do a Strider class on part of the track. They really put a lot of effort into the little ones.

cool, I took my Son on Sunday but was told no 12" bikes on the track for what ever reason. Just picked up 16" for him yesterday. I like to get him out in the ocean soon. We've only done lake fishing. Sorry to get off subject guys. What a great year for fishing!

Yes - this is the new Cabo! Who needs Mexi permits and strange regulations? Not me!

    Your kid is awesome!

He's definitely available for charter, but he goes through lots of PBJ's and requires ice cream at the fuel dock upon arrival. He gets a little chapped if you're not driving the boat fast enough too. He's also been known to squirt you off when playing with the hose at the slip.
