iPhone vs. Android G1 vs. Blackberry Storm -

Need a new phone and have narrowed it down to:

    The iphone 3g
    The Android G1
    The Blackberry Storm

Have read reviews etc. . .

Listened to sales pitches etc. .

Anyone have any real world experience with any of these?

Let me start by saying I HATE APPLE.

I hate their Brainwashed Hippy Minions.

    I hate the APPLE STORE.

The Iphone is the slickest gadget I've seen in 25+ years of nerdom.

    Also, ATT Service sucks balls.

The phone is so good, it's worth dealing with. I do seem to get better reception with the 3g phone though.

    Get one.

Almost 10 years later and no one has built a better Ipod.....

My roomie just bought the storm and no problems yet...I personally would play with it...I do not like the keyboard but I can imagine you can get used to it...

I understand working with documents is much easier with the storm than the iphone

My friend just got the new Storm and loves it!

I on the other hand love the iPhone.

Depends on who you provider is and how much it will cost to switch. They basically all do the same thing.

    +1

I won an iphone 3g 16gb in a bet and I love it. The only thing that I'd knock it for is the shitty battery life. You HAVE to charge it every day. I used to get 2-3 days on a charge with my ATT Tilt smartphone with wifi, 3g and all the doohickies turned on.

I love the 'conversation' feature of the iphone where it shows both the message you sent and the message you received from an individual in a conversational format.

Finding a contact and dialing with iphone is as easy as it was with my tilt.

I would hold off on the Storm.

My Rep told me they are having issues and only did a limited release on the 21st. there is some wrong with the gyro when you flip the phone on the side. it stays in the current position and won't flip the screen. This was confirmed by another friend of mine while at a demo with VZW. i have about 10 plus exec's waiting for it and my rep will not give me any because of the problem. He said wait about a month till the bugs are work out.

The ones that where release had the patched applied and will work but i am curious to see if anything else arise with them.BlackBerry Storm's Shipping Delay: Blame the Firmware

Im a Sprint customer, and they do not offer such a smart gadget. I have a Samsung Instinct which is inferior to those phones, but unlike the Iphone Im able to purchase insurance on my phone in case its lost or damaged for a flat fee or monthly. I would think if you purchase such an expensive device you should be able to insure it.

I went Iphone . . and love the thing.

My geek side runs deep and I have to say the iphone 3g is one of the coolest things I have bought in years.

I have Sprint and got the Touch, it does the "conversation" thing in text mode too. I can also watch live TV, surf the internet, sync with my pc, play mp3's, the list goes on and on. Not as large a screen as the Iphone, but fits in my pocket nicely.

The insurance on the phones is through the carrier, all carriers have the insurance policy which they will tack on UNLESS you tell them not to. Here is the bad about the insurance. It is all through one company, regardless of carrier. You pay per month, then IF you have a lost/stolen/broken phone you have to pay a minimum fee also of at least $50.00, plus you will recieve a refurbished phone, not a new or new comparible model, and IF they do not have your phone they will give you whatever they deem close, but most of the time it is valued at about 25 bucks. Now, you just paid 100 bucks for the insurance, for 100 bucks you can get a much better phone than what they will send you and you do not have a choice of what you get.

No picture messages also from what I have been told.

I'm hoping Apple doesn't renew the contract with AT&T and I can get an iPhone through another carrier.

I thought the same thing as well. I actually went to buy a Iphone, and I was told they wouldn't offer that insurance on the Iphone.

I can confirm what Rox says. I bought a brand new RAZR a few years ago for almost $300. Two months later, some asswipe stole my phone. I had to pay $50 and they sent me a refurb RAZR that was never quite as good as the original (pieces were loose). I figure over the course of several years, at $6/month, I paid them enough for several new phones. Typically carriers don't offer an insurance option for smart phones anyways.

I too hate Apple and Itunes but I love me my Iphone. The thing is very intuitive and has lots of features. I love the way the contacts are set up tap the contacts email and your sending a message tap their address and your mapping to them. I got a tide predictor, guitar tuner, face melter LOL, and a bunch of other crap.

On the other hand contacts back up has been a pain and yep no picture text.....
