I’m on this trip, I agree that June is probably the most “risky” timeframe. I was on a June 8 day on the Excel in the 90’s that was a STINKER. Just tough all around. I think I came home with 5 or 6 yellowtail.
A guy did catch a 75 pound yellow at the rocks, which was pretty amazing to see. On a 9/0, Dacron line, and a rod with a cod plate! Badass.
But…been on a bunch of fun trips too. And no matter what it’s better than working!
The bluefin fishery has kinda changed the equation for the better in regards to June trips. That option can really change the outcome.
