my dad and buddy mike and i just got back this morning from a 1.5 day on the indian.
we couldnt pass up the great offer they anounced thursday for BD'ers.
it was a great deal ...3 for the price of 2 and all meals included!
it was alittle tough out at the cortez bank saturday when we arrived
we dropped anchor and spent the rest of the day there.
along with 4 or 5 other sportfishers from the san diego area.
traditions and the oceanside 90 also spent most of the day in the area.
the mighty long ranger shogun even showed up later in the morning.
the weather wasnt the best and the swell got close 8 to 10ft at times.
but we scratched and clawed our way to a pretty fun trip,
my bud mike caught a 38 pound halibut and won the derby.
second was a 30+ pound YT.
i think we had 4YTs ,a bunch of bonitas,a couple of sheepheads, and a pretty good batch of bottom dwellers for our total haul on the boat.
i'd like to mention another thing about the indian.........
the crew, shawn, zarski, and ian are really good dudes !
they are helpful and super friendly and they know their stuff,
and captain chris randle is one of the best captains/owners out there.
he's so approachable and down to earth, and he knows how to catch fish
but what i like the best about him is that he treats his crew with respect.
theres no yelling or sceaming at crewmen.
and in return they do a great job for him and the customers,
a topnotch operation from top to bottom,
if you havent tried the indian before.....you need to.
you wont be dissapointed.

do a trip or two, im sure the business would be geatly appreciated.
and alot of the guys i've talked to say they think this year is a month or so behind from typical years and we should see the real start of the tuna season very soon..
i hope they're right.
there were alot of big time sport boats tied up at the docks all dark and empty for a friday night.
its got to be pretty tough for the fleet.
hopefully things will start getting better soon.

Great report. You now, the better captains are starting to shine. Be it service or the kill itself, they make it fun. With the price we pay and the lack of fish (not there fault) they damm well make it a good time! Gota try the Indian, chris seems like a class act. And as far as that goes (shout out) for Marcus on the New Lo Ann.......................Fingers crossed for a decent season :)

Love that crew! Makes all the difference on a slow trip....makes every one memorable when you are among friends. :hali_olutta:

Indian is the best. Went on an epic red and ling trip with them earlier this year and looking forward to a great tuna trip in September. Good Boat + Good Crew and Captain = Good Times
