Nice pictures. Way to slay. I’m on the RP headed north and hope our decks will look like that. We are west of San Quentin and put a couple BFT on the deck at about 5;30 am. 100 lb fish approx on the knife jigs Then the school left. One other school for nothing and we are back heading north looking again. We let the Indy know of the fish in this area. They are up the line more and out west

any daytime biters ?
Slow in the day. Hooked 1 lost it at color. Pulled hooked. Guy was using a 8 ounce weight with 40 pound line nose hooked sardine. Seeing lots of bluefin but they’re just putting on a show right now. Still looking for a school that wants to play. Will find them. Tons of fish out here

We pulled away from the docks early today. We arrived at the bait docks around 830. At that time the charter master handed out everyone a welcome bag with hooks-finger tape and a few assorted goodies along with everyone getting a bluefin jig with the good hooks to replace the bad hooks they come with. Also everyone received a t-shirt and then the raffle began. Duffel bags- sweet t-shirts good for sun protection and a hole slew of assorted prices. Then the big prizes everyone had their number put back in a hat and one lucky angler won a 30 two speed Avet reel and two other lucky anglers won a rail rod for fishing heavy line with jigs. The bait was on the smaller side but not the smallest I have seen. I will say the bait looks really good. We start fishing around 7 tonight. Stay tuned for on the water reports.

News flash. On the water update here on the bluefin grounds. We arrived at around 1030 last night and started looking around. Fish were boated around 3AM. Then we looked around for about 45 minutes and it was game on. Everyone got in on a wide open bluefin bite that lasted about an hour. They were in the 50-90 pound range eating any jigs that were offered to them. Getting bit both on the sink as well as on the drop. It’s now 645 and daylight and we’re on the hunt. Everyone worked good though with just a couple of tangles and a few pulled hooks but everyone has a bluefin or 2 on there tags.

What size and color was the hot jig?
On this trip it doesn’t matter. They’re eating any kinda jigs. Here’s the staple ones to bring 250-500 grams. Not much water movement so the 250 is working but also caught them on 500. Right now the bites only at night but that can change as our trip goes on

News flash. Update on the water report. We fished hard all day and seen massive amounts of bluefish. Lot of you anglers know that bluefin play when they’re ready. 1 fish boated and 1 pulled hook in the day today. Captain strongly recommended to get a few hours sleep in because they might bite tonight. If something happens will get you up. Lots of us took the captains suggestion and took a few hours naps. Now it’s night time with wind so a heavy jig is what’s working. 1st stop we sucked. 4-5 lost fish do to pulled hooks and 4 or 5 landed. It’s early so we’re on the hunt for these bluefin. Marking lots of fish in the area but they’re on the move. Will keep you informed of what’s going on here on the independence with more live updates here on the bluefin grounds. Stay tuned to this channel angles.

UPDATE! News flash! Another night time bite going on here aboard the independence. The bluefin maybe won’t play in the daytime but at night is a hole difference story. We have had good success on 3 different stops tonight. Jigs dropping down anywhere from 150- 250 and bang you’re going to get bit on that drop or reeling your jig back up. Remember when bluefin fishing get your jigs to go straight up and down. Big success is going to the bow and dropping and walking back to the stern so your lines not scoping out.
