Nice job, remember a few mid grade fish on wahoo tackle in the early 80's when I worked on the Q105. This was pre spectra and pre two speed reels. We were a "Newell" boat then on all of the 50 and lighter gear.

I'd say the hook holding was probably the most incredible part. What was it like a 1/0 or smaller light wire hook?

I caught a 130# on 30# and a small Gamatasu hook, wimpy rod. When the fish came in the hook ripped from the lip, across the cheek and ended up in the eye socket bone. Scary when one dude was tossing wahoo jigs next to me when I was on the bow. Scary fun.

I got my biggest Alijos fish ever (136) on 40lb and a 44lb wire, fishing for wahoo. That was the trip I got spooled on 2 straight baits on 40lb. Didn't have spectra back in the day, and it was a mo fo to get bit on anything bigger than 40

That is a nice catch.. Usually when hooked on wahoo gear, especially the outcome is not so good..

Now, some big fish get caught on light gear like this 262# bluefin this summer by my buddy Greg... 50#, TN 40 700 H.. here is the video for those that missed it this summer
