We launched out of Dana Landing around 5:45 - got bait and made some macs out by the jetty. Decided to head to LJ in hopes of getting a few YT's....wasn't happening so we headed off at a 240 heading for about 18 miles...water was an off-color greenish at 71 degrees. We found about 40 kelp paddies with nothing but a few baits under them - kept heading south and turned east about 8 miles shy of the corner. Wind was up at this time and was unpleasant quartering into the swell/wind at 16 kts. We found several more paddies close to the outside 9 and managed a decent dodo - water was a lot cleaner at the 9.

Boat ran stellar as usual - we covered 72 miles and burned 20 gallons.

We found a few trash items and brought them back. Who the hell tosses a full bag of crap in the ocean anyway?

All boats toss their trash overboard, I don't recall how far offshore they have to be to do so but it is legal to do it.

Sounds like it's slowing down a bit out there for paddy hopping

Here's a breakdown of the dumping regulations - note that plastic is NEVER allowed.

The paddies we found were in a long 3+ mile line in a current break that collected lot's of debris. The paddy that had the dodo was in clean
Yeah, we saw you...Rich says "Look a spotter plane" - I said, "probably that gaylord Jason".

I am calling BS on the loaded kelps & foamer tuna - not in the green water we had outside - water was good out to about 14 miles though.

Hey Steve is old and his eyes aren't what they used to be... besides he was just leaving something out there for the rest of us.

I'm just wondering why you didn't wake him up on the radio and tell him what he was missing, he would have done it for you.... right Steve

Just read that we pay China to take a lot of our plastic garbage, they in turn toss it in the sea. One thing for sure, it can't go on that way; we know now plastic breaks down to tiny particles that small fish eat. So no matter how you feel about it, you probably don't feel good about that shit getting into the human food chain. I don't think we have sorted a way to process plastic in our diet.

Bring your trash back with you and throw it in a God damn trash can!
If we continue to fuck up the ocean with our trash there won’t be any fish to worry about finding!
    What’s wrong with you people?

    Respectfully,

at least you went fishing and caught something and nothing broke, that is a good day! I've been out, burned 300 gallons, lost a hydraulic pump for my autopilot and caught nil! that is a bad day. LOL

All boats? Have you seen the thread for mylar balloons on here? You need to take a re-read from wherever you got your information.

I'll give you one clear pointer. First of all it's illegal to dump plastic in any part of the ocean. Isn't that a plastic bag?

You're filling up an entire trash bag on a private boat? Haven't seen any sportboats or commercial boats posting in that thread picking up balloons.
