feels good to be posting again. Had some boat upgrades over the winter which included new seadek flooring by blue seas fabrication, new bait tank and added a microwave.

If you don't want to read the report...you can watch it here. Took a lot of effort to play captain, deckhand, fisherman, director, producer, etc so I hope you enjoy it. Wide open bite and I'm just trying to gaff, chum, and catch some fish for myself.

Finally had a day off after finishing all the boat work and getting all the gear ready. I know there's some bluefin biting south but wanted to do an island run first.

I found fish every spot we fished. From the 9 to the back side near the run way and dunes then to the front.

Left logic beach at 4 am and picked up 2 scoops of squid from nacho.

Smooth seas all the way there and landed the first yellow on the iron. Whew the pressure was off. THat Trinidad D.C. Casts so nice!

Since it's island fishing, I prefer fishing star drag reels. And since we were fishing squid, Aki twist hooks with 3/8-3/4 ounce egg sinkers were used.

I would say bite turned on at the tide change around 11 ish and we were done by 2. Just complete wide open fun. We ended with over 40 and released the rest and headed home early.

Ride back was a bit "nautical" with winds up to 25 knots but we were in the pilot house so all good and dry.

Great way to start the season.

I guess just another day getting lucky. I don't think I'm good by any means, but I do think I'm lucky and I'd rather be lucky than good any day. Like fitness, I follow the 5ps. Proper preparation prevents poor performance. (Most of the time). We didn't lose much fish besides maybe 3. Just a great day.

Weather is up right now so time to rest a bit. Will be going offshore soon.

    Thanks for watching and reading.

Also, I post my reports on instagram first so make sure to follow me there as well!

Luck is one thing, making the best of it is another.
