My gut tells me if you have a choice of avoiding ethanol and possible future increases in ethanol concentration it would be wise to choose diesel. As far as boat, you have told me nothing of your application (offshore, Catalina, etc.). A deep v like I have isn't very good for fishing Cat for sea bass, for example.

I've never fished a Blackman, but would agree that they seem like the perfect offshore boat. I have fished a Parker and would pull the trigger on a Pilothouse 2520 with a tower in a heartbeat. Although the ride is a bit rough, the fishability of a Parker....in my opinion....is unmatched by any other boat in that size range.

Having had both the 262 Skippy and now the Osprey 30 Long Cabin, I would say if your going to spend the money go with the pilot house. There is no comparison between the two. The 262 is an all weather hardcore fisher but your limited to 3 guys for multi-day trips in comfort. The Osprey 30 will fish 5 guys and is alot more boat for the bang. Only drawback is the Ospreys cockpit has no area for a deck mounted bait tank, therefore we mounted our OS65 on the step. We purchased the Osprey after looking at just about every pilothouse on the market. The 28 whaleback Farallon was the choice we made before purchasing the Osprey, and now after changing directions we are glad we did. You have to look at the 28 or 30 Osprey longcabins before you make a purchase.

I love the Skippy 262!! If ya need a pilot house and can afford the controls on top of your house thats the way to go. In the skippy you sit high enough to spot kelps and see further. A pilot house with controls up top gives you the best of both worlds. Warm and dry inside and great view up top spotting fish. As for the best built pilot house........

When I was still a trailer boater, I drooled at the Phoenix 29. Never actually rode in one, but damn it looked like the best trailerboat of all.
